My Idea for an Eczema Focused App

As I mentioned previously, I have dealt with Eczema most of my life and continue to deal with it to date. While I have grown to live with and manage it over the years, it was certainly not easy for me. Today, Eczema continues to affect millions of kids and adults throughout the world who are trying to learn and cope with this chronic disease based on changing weather or geographical location. I feel inspired to help such individuals, through an AI-powered mobile app, to help them understand and manage their eczema more easily.

There have been many advances in the Generative AI field. Large Language Models (LLM) such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Gemini Pro, and others can already answer many medical-related questions, and other bio & medical focused models like BioGPT, MedLM, etc. continue to enter the market.

I intend to leverage my recent app development coursework skills and an available LLM model to create my app. In developing such an app, I have a few things in mind:

1.       Provide users with a simple way to ask eczema-focused questions.

2.       Restrict user conversations to health or eczema-related using prompt engineering and other techniques.

3.       Track the user's eczema status through in-app feedback, along with other information that is available from the user's phone and the web. (e.g. location, date, time, temperature, humidity, etc.) for a more personalized experience in the future.

I would also like to incorporate a user's recorded eczema data and its associated phone data like location, temperature, etc. to allow the user to ask predictive future questions (e.g. I am traveling to Chicago on these dates. What would my eczema symptoms be? How can I prepare for it?). Additionally, I would want users to be able to use voice to ask questions instead of chat and allow users to share pictures with the app to better understand their eczema symptoms.

Most mobile phones today are Android and iOS based. It is important that such an application is available on both platforms to help reach most individuals. To avoid building separate applications for each platform, I intend to use Google's Flutter - an app development framework that supports multiple platforms like Android, iOS, Web, etc.
